Aereo
2010 - 2014
Aereo was a ground-breaking cloud DVR and video streaming service. As VP of Product Design, I was responsible for both the user experience and managing the development of the many Aereo applications. This included web, mobile, and a “lean-back” version built for smart TVs and gaming consoles.

“Aereo couldn't be simpler... it has a thoughtful, clean user interface that works well on the iPad.”

With the Aereo web app, users could record and watch live, local broadcast TV and control their DVR-in-the-cloud — just like a TV-connected set-top-box.
Aereo on the big screen…
Although Aereo started as a mobile video product, we quickly learned that people really wanted to watch TV on their TV. The “lean back” experience was a custom web app built to run on smart TVs and gaming consoles. The user interface was layered on top of whatever video was playing and it was completely navigable using the arrow keys on a remote control.
